The 52-Week Collection - Week 3: Happiness

Do you agree that the older we are, the more difficult we are to taste happiness? Maybe we already get used to the taste of happiness?
Happiness could still be very simple, try to appreciate everything around us :):)

The 52-week Collection: Week 2 - Looking Back

Are we often too busy to spend time looking back?
What would we find when we look  back?

The 52-week Collection: Week 1 - Instinct

Inspired by Andrew =) although I might not have so much time and tools to take creative pictures...I would want to motivate myself to keep my photography practice going. =) In the coming 52 week, I am going to post one picture, either new or old, in this album on a weekly basis...to keep track on my journey with my camera as well as to motivate myself to continue taking good pictures =D=D

Week 1 - Instinct
While the cats in rural area don't have cozy beds and clothes like those in big cities, their instinct help them find ways to keep warm in the cold winter.

Wing Lee Street

Wing lee street has become a hot spot for photographing and sight-seeing lately because of the award-winning film 'Echoes of the rainbow' that set there.

To me, it's always fascinating to see the steps that lead us to where we are .

Wing lee street is a short street with 12 tenement buildings, you could see the whole street at one glance, but you would be very much attracted by the buildings there, every one of them.

The ground floor of most buildings there were for business purpose, just like other tong lau in hong kong. The business there are mostly in publishing.

The buildings there are typically tong lau (Chinese-style building, typical 1950's post-war architecture, unique to HK and southern China)

There is an indoor playground there which the other photographer I met on that day recommended me to take a look.

That area was indeed under a redevelopment plan but now is preserved due to public pressure.

Old-fashion mail boxes.

Obviously the people there are overwhelmed by the large amount of visitors lately, notices that read "private property, do not enter without permission" are posted on the front door of most of the buildings. Well...it seems that there's a price of being famous...It would be great if the government can turn the whole street into another tourism spot in my opinion, since there are quite a lot to see nearby, and to prevent the people there from being annoyed so often.

Wanna visit the Stanley market again or take some short trips in hk in the coming Easter holiday:D hopefully can get a few buddies to accompany :P

The hospital and the firemen

The Face Mask

I went back to the hospital to check on my right ear today, it has been 26 weeks since it gave me big problem in august last year. Doctor said it looks ok now but there are still potential problems until I would agree to have the surgery to fully 'correct' it. Well... I just don't want to do it yet, maybe I am afraid, especially seeing the sleepy eyes of the doctors. I feel bad for them, they should have enough rest, or rather it's the economic downturn or medication politic system that makes them so tired...both physically and emotionally. However, it seems to be a global norm that doctors are overworked...I think I would have the operation one day, it is not fun if it inflames again. There is no need to go back for checking again unless I would like to have the operation.

Okay that's about the hospital.

The Cracks

To the brave fireman who lost his life and those injuried in yesterday's fire, my salute to them and their families. I feel worse about the news today because I walked pass that building when I was on the way to see the doctor this morning. Flowers, offerings,  reporters, firemen, their families, people who came to pay respect and lots of fire apparatuses were there. The smell of burnt was still there, water on the floor, emotionless faces around. I didn't bring my camera today, it's too sad, I am just not strong enough to look at the people there for one more second, I would burst into tears. Yes that's me, tears fall down so easily, even just by reading the news online. That's not necrssarily a bad thing, just that it's quite annoying sometimes. Too much sad news around the world lately, earthquakes, tsunami, snowstorm.
Sometimes I wonder if the sad news worth more reporting or the world has too little happy news to report?

Anyway, tomorrow is another new day.

My Old Friend

Dated 27th Feb, 2010.
I had a weird dream last night, a dream full of music.
I was composing a song, a song that is meant for violin I guess. I pretended playing violin when I was composing the song, and I heard drums and fruitful sounds of string instruments.I don't remember the whole song when I woke up this morning, but I remember the first phase of the song.
This dream reminds me of an unfinished piece I was writing about a year ago. Maybe it's time to turn it into a complete one :):)

I want to say sorry to my piano.

It has been with me for more than 15 years now. I loved it... I loved it until my intrinsic interest was totally destroyed by external forces (pushy teacher and parents [I love them no less] that redirected my interest to exams and lots of meaningless unenjoyable practices).

I loved playing the piano in front of the whole school when I was in secondary school during morning assembly. I love to fill people's day with music the first thing they walked into school hall. I love music lessons, listening to classical music and operas.

I love, especially, composing songs that reveal my inner emotion world. I love playing music and sing beautiful songs with my friends.

I come in front of you as I am today, wanting to know you in a brand new way.

Dated 7th March, 2010.
I played the piano today, for myself. I didn't really play the piano for myself all these years, or I didn't know how to play the music for myself. The play today reminds me why I love playing and composing songs in the first place - to make others smile.
Music has such a magical power. If you try to concentrate on listening to music, any kind, even pop music, you could lose yourself there, forgetting all the worries and problems just for that few minutes.

Today's play gave me a new feeling and emotion towards my piano, my old friend.
I think I found the old feeling when I first touched her, and I would love to make music with her once again.

How good are you at differentiating colors?

I came across this test in other blogger's entry. This is quite a good test, or game if you would call it~

What we need to do is to sort the color blocks in between according to the first and last color block. Eyes are a bit tired after finishing the first two rows but I think it worths a try! :D:D
Click here to do the test!

I have done the test twice with score 36 the first time and 26 the second trial (the lower the better). This are what I've got :D:D

I don't think I do very well compare to my age group's average, maybe I need to practice my eyes a bit more or try the test again on a different computer hehe~

A Bonus Walk in The Park

It is a luxury to have a walk in the park since school has started. Either being too tired after school or just being too lazy to take a walk, especially after my doggie Lele has gone. I am so thankful that we have a Reading week in the middle of every semester, to take some time out to do something relaxing!

The humidity in the air announce the arrival of Spring, fresh and green grass and beautiful flowers can be seen everywhere. I like the fresh air in the park, so comfortable walking there.

It is a surprise for me to see TVB is filimg a new series in the Chinese style area in the park. Although this is not the first time I see them there, this time with my camera with me, it will definitely be an extra hour in the park! LoL I am not a TV-worm myself but according to the other visitors in the park, they are filming "公主嫁到". These two are my favourite ones, they looked at the camera!! :D:D

Their costoms are really beautiful! However in such a hot and humid weather yesterday, I don't think it's fun to wear those clothes for half a day :P:P

It's fun to see how they film the series, em...I am curious to see how it actually looks like on TV. :):)P.S. I am trying my very best to wake up early in the morning to have a morning walk...hopefully I can achieve this tomorrow maybe?

Be Well!

The Other Side of Chauses by Cherry & Kelvin

As promise :D:D here are two of the ones I really like from yesterday's photo shoot by Cherry and Kelvin, I might upload other bigger head ones on my fb later when I have more time to look at them all :D:D

Why would I suddently want to have this sort of pictures of my own? Maybe I watched and read too much twilight LoL just kidding. I always think that there are many other sides of me deep inside, but either I just don't know what those sides are, or that I don't know how to express them.

This series of picture is about mask. Makeup is a kind of mask to me. Friends, if you have noticed, I almost never wear any makeups in my everyday life, even if I have to go for formal dinners or other formal occasions, I just put on lip sticks at most usually. The fact that I don't like to wear makeups is because I just don't look like me anymore afterwards, and I don't like that. I like the original me, the face I was given when when I was born. Well, another reason is that I am not good at makeup LoL and it's quite time consuming to put them on and off. Why put on so much chemicals on the face? After I have put on the makeup, I don't know the person in the mirror.

In this set of photos, I was trying to put on a cold face, dark eyes and red lips, black clothing, red assessories, red nails. That was indeed inspired by twilight sega and a little bit of gothic style. Red and black are elegant partners. The red symbolizes the warm side and passion inside me, while the black clothing somehow symbolizes the cold apearance I was trying to give in front of people sometimes. Not much smiling symbolizes my don't-like-to-show-my-emotion-publicly often. Indeed I love to smile, and I am so attracted to people who smile always. I feel light and happy around them. The old building kind of represents some old-fashion thinkings of mine. I do admit I am quite rigid and stubborn sometimes. :P:P

I quite like this look of me. What do you think? :D:D

Be Well!

P.S. just a thought, do you think the left one is kind of giving the feeling of"Welcome to the house" ? LoL

Passion for Indian Food

Thanks to Cherry who brought me to O cafe and introduced me to this delicious tea set there :D:DI always loved indian dishes, curry puff, masala tea, naan, and more curry!

This tea set includes green salad, curry puff and masala tea!
They are all so delicious and I just have to emphasize once more that I love masala tea! :D:D

When the mid-semester approaced, we hardly have time to relax. Assignments, presentations, projects are queuing up. I am glad that I work with awesome people in all subjects from the very first semester I entered the school, and quite a number of these groupmates becomes very close friends of mine afterwards, which is very rewarding to me. I am not a socializing expert, and it takes me a while to warm up before starting a friendship, that's why I like people who tells me lots of stories of their own, or keep asking me questions :P:P If you know me better maybe you will find me not as quiet and cold as I appear :P:P

That is it for now, I guess I should sleep. (thanks to the evening nap today I really don't feel like sleeping now =_= sigh, I shouldn't have slept in the evening =_=)

I am feeling so excited about tomorrow because I will be taking picture on campus! I promise to share some good ones later on(if there's any LoL)!

Be well!
